If these bags are going to be used as a liner inside of a box or other type of enclosure, the side gussets help to insure that the bag conforms to the interior shape without useless excess bunching at the bottom. When used as outer packaging, side gussets make for a neater fit without the unsightly "ears" associated with flat bags of equal capacity.

Dimension clarification: The first number is the flat width. The second number is the "gusset", or the measurement of the plastic that goes in and out on the sides. The third number is the bag length. Bags are not measured the same way as boxes. If you are not sure how to measure for your application, we will be happy to assist you to avoid costly errors.
